Curodont™ Repair

Helps early white-spot cavities heal, no drilling.

A cavity doesn’t start as a hole. It starts as a chalky white spot where acid has drawn minerals out of the enamel while the surface is still intact. At that early stage, our pediatric dentists in San Antonio can often use Curodont™ Repair to help the tooth rebuild itself, so your child may never need a filling there.

What is Curodont™ Repair?

Curodont™ Repair is a clear liquid that’s applied to an early cavity. It contains a protein-like building block (a peptide) that soaks into the weakened enamel and forms a fine scaffold inside it. Calcium and phosphate from your child’s saliva then collect along that scaffold, rebuilding the enamel from within. Over the following weeks, the white spot often becomes harder and less visible.

Curodont uses your child’s own minerals to do the repair. Nothing is drilled or removed from the tooth.

Which cavities can Curodont treat?

Curodont is for early, non-cavitated lesions: white or light-brown spots where the outer enamel hasn’t broken down into a hole. Common examples include:

  • White spots along the gumline on front teeth
  • Early spots on the smooth sides of teeth
  • White spots that appear around braces
  • Early changes between teeth that we can see on Digital X-Rays

Once a cavity has broken through the surface, Curodont can no longer rebuild it. That tooth will need a different approach, such as Fillings, or Silver Diamine Fluoride to stop the decay. At your child’s exam, we’ll tell you which spots are good candidates.

What to expect at the visit

Treatment is quick and simple:

  1. We clean the tooth and gently prepare the surface of the white spot.
  2. The Curodont liquid is applied and left to soak in for a few minutes.
  3. That’s it. There’s no numbing, and your child can go about their day.

We’ll recheck the area at future checkups to see how it’s responding.

Why families like Curodont

  • It keeps more of your child’s natural tooth.
  • No numbing is needed.
  • It fits into a regular appointment.
  • It can stop a cavity before it ever needs a filling.
Does Curodont replace brushing and fluoride?

No. Curodont jump-starts the repair, and good habits keep it going. Twice-daily brushing with fluoride toothpaste, Fluoride varnish at checkups, and fewer sugary snacks all help the treated spot stay strong.

Is Curodont safe for children?

Curodont is built from a peptide modeled on proteins the body uses to form enamel. It has been studied in children and adults and is applied only to the spot being treated.

Will the white spot disappear completely?

Often it fades and becomes harder, but some spots stay slightly visible. Either way, the enamel is stronger and the spot stops growing.
